Favourite Etsy finds for my little boy

May 11, 2012

There is some really amazing stuff on Etsy. I wanted to share details of two of my favourite Etsy finds for my little boy. Both of these items are rather special and they will probably last for years.

I got this absolutely beautiful personalised table lamp with moon and stars from Hannah Nunn for my son’s third birthday last summer. His name is on the front and his date of birth is on the back. You can also get these lamps with different designs including flowers and seed heads. Hannah is based in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire and she will supply the lamps with UK, European or US plugs. The current price for these lamps is $99 (approx £63).

Another favourite Etsy find was this gorgeous quilt/throw from Chic Throws in Leicestershire. I always wanted to make a quilt myself but never found the time to do it and there is no way I would managed to make something as nice as this. This quilt is a big favourite with my son, even now he is in a full-sized single bed. He calls it his ‘shapes blanket’. It washes really well too and looks just as bright and lovely as it did the first time I saw it.

This particular design is not currently available, and the Chic Throws shop is no longer on Etsy.

I bought both of these items myself. Photos are from the Etsy stores for Hannah Nunn and Chic Throws.

I love the quilt. My mum made one for my daughter, it lasted a few years but it stained telly badly. A quilt like that would be an awesome replacement. Will have to give into my Etsy love and take a look xx

These are lovely and you are right you can find such beautiful things on Etsy. I want to buy all my presents from there. I’ve started doing Treasury Tuesdays where I put together an Etsy treasury based a certain theme. I was thinking of making it into my first ever meme. What do you think? Might people want to join in? x

Yes I’d love to buy lots of presents from Etsy too. I’m also signed up to Folksy and Not on the High Street and other places where it’s possible to buy special presents that aren’t the same old same old.
As for having a meme, it might be worthing having a chat with someone who is already running a meme to find out what works and what doesn’t. I asked Liz at Me & My Shadow who runs Magpie Monday about how she got started with that and she said that she persuaded a few people to join in before she launched it.
There are various options in terms of how prescriptive you are with memes. One of the reasons I join in with Magpie Monday is that is not very prescriptive at all. So long as you are talking about preloved/secondhand items they can have come from anywhere. And it’s up to you whether you talk about one item or several, and whether you group things by theme.
      Hope this helps,
      R x
