Family Frolics – minibreak in Bury!
I’ve been thinking a lot about how this blog has been going over the last 9 months since I started in late June 2011. In general I’m having a lot of fun and enjoying writing, and joining in with conversations. But I can’t help thinking that I’m not doing one of the things I set out to do, and this is to record some of the fun things we do together as a family.
So I’ve decided to write more regular blogposts on this topic, inspired by Multiple Mummy’s Family Frolics link up. Here is some more information from Multiple Mummy’s blog about Family Frolics:
Family Frolics Link ups can include any post you have written in the week about something you have done with the family. This can include things like what bedtime story you are all sharing, days out, flying a kite, fancy dress, tea parties, picnics, arts and craft, cookery! You name the Family Frolic…I want it in my link up.
So this week I thought I would write a quick post about our trip to Bury at the weekend. We were there to visit my sister Lucy and her family and to help celebrate the birthday of my youngest niece.
Lucy was working on the Benefit Counter in Boots on Saturday afternoon and early evening. So the rest of us went to the Trafford Centre to say hi. Lucy gave me a mini makeover, and I bought a few new Benefit goodies, including a really gorgeous lipstick.
My son Aled was very impressed with the Lego Thomas opposite Boots in the Trafford Centre. I tried to take a photo, but he wouldn’t stay still, so he looks a bit blurry! The lovely top he is wearing in the photo came from Lidl. (I also got a couple nice photos of both my nieces but they didn’t want to appear on my blog!)
My husband, son and I then went to the Gourmet Burger Kitchen in the Trafford Centre for our evening meal of veggie burgers and chips.
We stayed overnight in the lovely new Premier Inn in Bury, which is extremely stylish as you can see in the photo below. I like staying in Premier Inn hotels and one of my earliest blogposts for this blog was entitled why I use Premier Inn.
Then on Sunday we spent most of the day at Lucy’s house with my niece’s birthday party in the afternoon. Aled had great fun bouncing on the trampoline in their garden and playing with his cousins. I also got chance to have a catch-up with Lucy when we popped out to get some last minute party supplies.
So a good time was had by all! It had been a very brief visit, but we are intending to do a longer visit soon. We saw a steam train from the hotel room window and that reminded us we should be more organised and book a steam train trip next time.
Why not go and read the other Family Frolics posts that have been linked up this week?
