Listography – Kids Movies

August 4, 2011

Our fave films for children

This week’s Kate Takes 5 Listography is the Top 5 Movies for Kids. So here is my list of must-have movies for a minibreak with my little boy:

Toy Story 2
This is our favourite of the three Toy Story films. It starts with Buzz Lightyear trying to defeat the Emperor Zurg (or naughty Zurg, as my son calls him) and also introduces Jessie the cowgirl. Lots of lovely moments and not quite as scary as the other two Toy Story films.

Monsters, Inc.
A very appealing film. Such a cute little girl and such lovely, funny monsters. Apart from the baddies of course!

The Wrong Trousers
or the Robot Trousers according to Aled, who insisted on watching this with me before I went to work this morning. This is the best of the Wallace and Gromit adventures, involving a fantastic chase sequence with a model railway. Gromit is amazingly expressive for a silent plasticine dog.

The Jungle Book
H’s childhood favourite, so we were very pleased when Aled took a shine to this as well. Great songs and gorgeous animation. Aled calls this film ‘Mancub’.

The Incredibles
“No capes!” My very favourite Pixar film, but I must admit that Aled only really gets interested when the ‘running boy’ gets a chance to do his stuff.

So that’s my top five kids films to take on holiday. We have a portable dvd player to play them all on, which is one of the best purchases I’ve made this year for keeping a small boy entertained. (Especially if he wants to watch Cars. Again.)

How did I forget Wallace & Gromit? My kids absolutely love the Curse of the Were Rabbit! And they are sat watching The Incredibles this very minute!

Well you can’t fit everything in a top five! Good to hear you & yours like some of the same films that we do though.

And I’m loving your blog – will watch with interest
